Fight against Sweating. Hyperhidrosis or Excessive Sweating is a drag!
This is a sample of the content of the manual from the iontophoresis-device Idromed4 - Note: we cannot guarantee the actuality and accuracy.
If you buy a Idromed iontophoresis device a actual maual is included.
The manual is spreaded over several pages.
With the idromed® 4 you have purchased a tried and tested iontophoresis unit for the treatment of
excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) on hands, feet and armpits (with optional accessories).
We hope that you will be satisfied with the use of the idromed® 4. In order to achieve
good results, please follow these instructions exactly.

If possible, the treatment should be performed once a day in the beginning. Treatment
should last 10-15 minutes, depending on the doctors orders. Normally, after 10
treatments, a normal hydrosis level is reached and the skin moisture is normalized. After
this, treatment is normally carried out once a week.
The inhibition of sweating is much more pronounced at the plus pole than at the minus
pole. In order to optimize the therapeutic effect, you should therefore switch polarities
before every 5th treatment session. To do this, you have only to swap the electrode leads.
Current intensity is set according to individual requirements of the user. The ideal
current intensity evokes a pleasant, tingling sensation. The values listed in these
instructions are the maximum values allowed. The current intensity chosen by the user,
however, is normally much lower.
The maximum values permissible are:
- For the treatment of the hands: 15 mA
- For the treatment of the feet or of hands and feet: 25 mA
- For the treatment of the armpits: 5 mA
If the current intensity selected is too high, you may experience an unpleasant tingling
sensation in the extremities treated during the session. If this occurs, a lower current
intensity has to be selected!
After each session, please empty the tubs and dry the tubs, the electrodes and the cable
with a towel.
The patient must not remove the hands from the tubs during treatment! The current
intensity must always be below 15 mA.
If you want to switch off the unit, put the foot switch to [0] and remove the hands of the
tubs only ca. 3 seconds after the green lamp is switched off.
a) Separate the 2 parts of the suitcase
as described in Point 3.2.a) and place them in front of the idromed® 4 on the table.
Connect the electrodes as described in Point 3.2.b).
b) Switch the control knob to the value [1]. Make sure, that the unit is switched off by
the foot switch.
c) Put each hand in one of the water-filled treatment tubs.
d) There are 2 possibilities to choose the current intensity:
- Switch on the unit by the foot switch. The person helping you now chooses the current
intensity by turning the control knob to a value, at which you experience a pleasant
tingling sensation.
- Turn the control knob by approx. ½ of a value indicated on the scale, put the hands in
the tub and switch on the unit via the foot switch. If you dont experience a
tingling sensation in the hands, switch off the unit via the foot switch (remove one hand
from the tub only after approx. 3 seconds see above). Turn the knob by another ½
of the value, put your hands again in the tubs and switch on the unit via the foot switch.
Repeat this procedure, until you experience a pleasant tingling sensation on your hands.
e) The actual value of the current intensity is indicated on the LCD-display. Note this
value and the position of the control knob for the next treatment session.
f) At the next treatment session leave the control knob on the position determined before.
Make sure that the unit is switched off via the foot switch.
g) Put the hands in the treatment tubs and switch on the unit via the foot switch.
h) At the end of the session, after 10-15 minutes, switch off the unit via the foot
switch.
When the green lamp on the unit is out completely, wait another 3 seconds before you
remove your hands from the tubs.
The patient must not remove the hands from the tubs during treatment!
If you want to switch off the unit, put the foot switch to [0] and remove the
feet of the tubs only ca. 3 seconds after the green lamp is switched off.
a) Separate the 2 parts of the suitcase as described in Point 3.2.a) and place them on the
floor. Connect the electrodes as described in Point 3.2.b).
b) Switch the control knob to the value [1]. Make sure, that the unit is switched off by
the foot switch. [0].
c) Put each foot in one of the water-filled treatment tubs.
d) Switch on the unit via the foot switch and choose the current intensity with the
control knob at a value, at witch you experience a pleasant tingling sensation. The actual
value of the current intensity is indicated on the LCD-display. This value must always be
below 25 mA.
e) At the end of the treatment, after 10-15 minutes, slowly turn back the control knob to
[1] and switch off the unit via the foot switch When the green lamp on the unit is out
completely, wait another 3 seconds before you remove your feet from the tubs.
For the simultaneous treatment of hands
and feet you should separate the two parts of the suitcase. To do this, open the suitcase
completely, put it on a plain surface and separate the 2 parts carefully in opposite
directions (see arrows on the hinges on the suitcase).
a) Put one tub (suitcase) for the hands on the table in front of the idromed® 4 and the
second tub (suitcase) for the feet on the floor.
b) Switch the control knob to the value [1] Make sure, that the unit is switched off by
the foot switch ([0]).
c) Put both feet in the water-filled tub on the floor. During treatment you must not
remove the feet from the treatment tub.
d) Put one hand in the second tub and do not remove it from the tub until the end of the
treatment.
e) With the other, dry hand switch on the unit via the foot switch and choose the current
intensity via the control knob at a value at which you experience a pleasant tingling
sensation. The actual value of the current intensity is indicated on the LCD-display. This
value must always be below 25 mA.
f) Put this second, dry hand in the treatment tub to the other hand.
g) At the end of the treatment, after 10-15 minutes, remove one hand from the tub. Turn
down the current intensity to the value [1] with the control knob and switch off the unit
via the foot switch. Remove the second hand and the feet from the tubs only 3 seconds
after the green lamp is completely out.
If you want to switch off the unit, put the foot switch to [0] and remove the sponge
electrodes from the armpits only ca. 3 seconds after the green lamp is switched off.
For the treatment of the armpits use the 2 optional sponge electrodes with the sponges.
2x nickel-free electrodes with sponges for the
treatment of the armpits.
Optional accessories,
a) Use the 2 electrode cables to connect the electrodes with the plus and the minus pole
of the unit.
b) Moisten the sponges until they dont drop (do not wring them out)! Attention,
there is a danger of burns, when the metallic electrodes are in direct contact with the
skin! When treating the armpits, the sponge electrodes have to be kept quietly and with
constant pressure under the armpits. Otherwise there will occur fluctuations of current at
the display of the unit.
c) Switch the control knob to the value [1] Make sure, that the unit is switched off by
the foot switch [0].
d) Put one sponge electrode under each armpit and switch on the unit via the foot switch.
e) Choose the current intensity via the control knob at a value at which you experience a
pleasant tingling sensation, then turn back the knob, until the tingling sensation stops.
The actual value of the current intensity is indicated on the LCD-display. This value must
always be below 5 mA. (the optimum value is 1 2 mA).
f) When treating the armpits, the sponge electrodes have to be kept quietly and with
constant pressure under the armpits. Otherwise there will occur fluctuations of current at
the display of the unit.
g) At the end of the treatment, after 10-15 minutes, turn down the current intensity to
the value [1] and switch off the unit via the foot switch.
Remove the sponge electrodes from the armpits only 3 seconds after the green lamp is
completely out.
h) The treatment session is finished, you can remove the sponge electrodes.
